les glaciรจres
HBK Braunschweig BS Projects residency program. Braunschweig. 2021ย
Glaciers have the ability to live in-between temporal spaces, flowing between timescales. Our same units cannot measure their geological time. In this work, field recordings from the disappearing Brouillard glacier in the Mont Blanc area are cut, extended, shortened, repeated and warped to compose a volatile and eery soundscape. The audio exciters oscillating directly on the different architectural materials transform the entire glass cube into a speaker.
The shape on the plinth is a 3d printed sculpture, showing the effect of the sound when virtually forced to interact with a surface.
